Mayall II (G1)


Image of Mayall II (G1) from Aug. 23 2011. This globular cluster is the largest known within our Local Group of galaxies in which the Milky Way is a member. It lies at an estimated distance of 130,000 ly.'s from its parent galaxy NGC224 also known as M31 the Andromeda Galaxy.

Guider: Starlight Xpress Ex-View off-axis with Starlight Xpress Active Optics unit.
Scope: 100mm Orion achromat @ F6
Filter: Hutech IDAS-LPS
5x120sec exposures acquired, combined and stretched in Astroart 5
Image is 51'x38' north is up east to the left.
